Xenia Weekend

We loaded the motor home with supplies for a weekend in Xenia.
We met seven other couples at the Greene County Fairgrounds.
The plan was to ride our bicycles on the trails that lead into and out of Xenia,
the 'hub of it all."
Xenia is the intersection of four bicycle trails:
the Ohio to Erie Trail goes through Xenia,
the Creekside Trail goes west to Dayton,
the Simon Kenton Trail goes north to Springfield, then Urbana
the Xenia-Jamestown Connector goes east, south east past Jamestown.

John and Karen's camping outfit.

Friday morning, the group gathered for the initial ride to Waynesville on
the Little Miami Scenic Trail.
You can see that even though the sun is shining,
the temperature was a little chilly.

Some riders turned around at Spring Valley.
We rode with John and Karen and enjoyed a nice lunch at the Village Family Restaurant.

On our return trip, we stopped at Spring Valley to take a break.
I walked over to the Walking Threads store.
What a nice variety of bicycle T-shirts!
Imprinted while you wait...

John, a retired police officer, and Karen couldn't resist these shirts.
"life behind bars..... ain't so bad"
John also found a hat he couldn't live without!

The end to a pleasant day.

Saturday's ride took us north on the Simon Kenton Trail to Yellow Springs.
We reserved 16 seats for our group at
The Golden Jersey Inn.

Saturday would be our last evening with the group.
Brenda, Kathy and Ella - with contributions by others -
prepared a delicious spaghetti dinner for all to enjoy!
Thank you for the delicious dinner, Ladies!

Sunday was to be a 'free' day.
The ladies and some of the men were planning a trip to Cincinnati
as well as to Jungle Jim's on the return trip.
We rode with Ron on the Little Miami Scenic Trail,
heading up to Cedarville for breakfast.
Bummer! The restaurant was open, but not serving food.
Ron continued north-east to see how far the trail was completed.
We returned to camp, stopping at McDonald's for breakfast in Xenia.

We had surprisingly cool weather and a rainstorm early Friday morning.
We bicycled a little over 80 miles in three days - almost as much as I have bicycled
in the last three weeks!
