A Memorial Day Trip

We took a little trip to see the relatives in the north east part of the state.
We sat in the shade and chatted with Uncle Walter. He is planning to modify the trailer to carry bicycles and perhaps his kayak. He lives close to a bike trail as well as a canal.
All the toys!

We stopped at the cemetary to plant flowers.

As dry as it was, there were plenty of mosquitoes!

We took a little bit of a side trip to Nelson Ledges to see a friend who planned to race his Miata this weekend in the Mahoning Valley Regional Sports Car Club of America National Race.

Three Indy cars were 'racing' around the track.

Early morning over Lake Milton
After a nice breakfast, we headed south.

A killdeer built his nest in the middle of Uncle Walter's turn-around!

Silly killdeer!

Uncle Walter was busy with his roto-tiller. He has corn coming up in the middle of his garden; tomatoes planted to the left and pole beans planted in circles to the right. Pepper plants will go in the newly roto-tilled area.
Does he have the finely tilled soil!

On the trip home, we made a stop at the Eddie Bauer Outlet store near Columbus. What a busy place!

Retirement

Retirement: reading the directions for a new camera in the sunroom with the windows open and the delicate aroma of the irises coming in on the breeze.

What could be better?

A Sudoku puzzle!

The rain has been pretty brutal to the peonies.
It's hard to believe we are about and inch and a half below the average amount of rain for this time of year!

Mother's Day

We decided to leave home a little early to meet the children and their parents at the Conference Center at General Butler State Park for the Mother's Day buffet. As we exited the freeway, what did we see? A sign that said, "Tractor Show"! So, of course, we had to check it out.

The Pioneer Power Club had quite the display.

After a very nice buffet, including some very nice desserts, we drove to the playground where the children could ride their bikes.
Noah riding his bike; K.K., wearing her 'sparkly' John Deere T-shirt, holding a toad.
The toad, as it turned out, was a real attention getter from most of the children hanging out at the park!

Happy Mother's Day to all the Mothers!
