Phil is a lawyer in Northern Ohio; Todd will return from his first tour of duty in Iraq in early May (he was in Qatar for his other tour), Christine is a vice-president of finances working in New York City, and Janice is a certified public accountant working in Louisville.

AGENDA: Frankie will present “Behind the Scenes of the Tour de France."

Frankie was one of Lance Armstrong’s first teammates on the U.S. Postal Team. He also was an Olympic cyclist. He currently does commentary for Versus (formerly OLN) for all the major cycling events and stays busy with Andreu Racing, which involves conducting cycling camps throughout the country for elite level racers as well as presenting motivational programs. Frankie has generously offered to stay around after his presentation to answer any questions you may have.

Birthday Wishes

Birthday cards for the birthday boy. Check out the 'bicycle' birthday card from his sister.

We met the Little People and their mother at the Wooly Mammoth Soft Play Park before dinner. We had met there two years ago for pre-birthday festivities, i.e. letting the children run, play and form 'new' friendships.

Here is K.K. with a 'new best friend'.

After a nice dinner at Olive Garden, we headed home. Happy Birthday to you!

St. Patrick's Day Parade

The early morning temperature was 26 degrees as fifteen brave bicyclists began to line up for the first ever West Chester Township St. Patrick's Day Parade.

Here we are: ready for the parade to begin. There were three tricycles, including one Greenspeed ; two recumbents; and the rest, road bikes. The man in the light green jacket is our fearless leader.

The hit of the parade was Audrey's dog riding in a bugger...

Last weekend we had the opportunity to visit the Little People and their parents. The weather was pleasantly warm. We had fun playing outdoors.

While K.K. was busy playing catch; Noah was just as happy running up and down the hill as fast as he could. His flying feet are off the ground!

Sunday morning, all dressed up for the picture taking event.

We bikers are lined up for a photo event for an article in the local paper. The late afternoon temperature was maybe in the high 30's. Brent, third from the left, with the bare arms and legs, stayed in his car with the heater running for as long as he could! Lori, on the far right, rode her bike about 3 miles to the event. Our fearless leader is wearing his warm red and gray jacket.

Hueston Woods State Park

This year is the 41st annual Maple Syrup Festival celebration at Hueston Woods State Park.

After a splendid pancake breakfast, including maple syrup, at the Hueston Woods Lodge , we hiked through the "Big Woods" to visit the sugar shack, where the maple syrup is made. We were a little early for the 'official' tour, so we toured on our own.

Here is one of the more modern ways that maple syrup is collected. Even though there was quite a bit of snow on the ground, and Acton Lake was still frozen, the sap was flowing.

Traditional methods of collecting sap are used. There also was some plastic tubing leading directly from the trees to the collection point. In the background of the right picture is not the normal view of Acton Lake.

After chatting with the park naturalists, we headed back to 'civilization'. In the backgound is the beach house beside Acton Lake.

It was pleasant walking through the woods, albeit a little slippery underfoot. A good way to walk off two plates full of pancakes with maple syrup and sausages! Yummy!

Turning Twenty... Again

'Turning Twenty... Again'

The quilt has been completed and is almost ready to send. I'm hoping the recipient will be as pleased with the result as I am. Either way, the quilt provided me with a lot of fun: choosing the pattern, the fabrics and sewing the quilt.
