Early in January, Michaels had all their yarn on sale.
I bought enough yarn for two Project Linus baby blankets and enough for the yellow and green crocheted 'Delightful Ripple' that is fun to crochet for baby gifts.
I had Noah's ABC quilt professionally quilted - I'm such a wimp! All that remains to be done is the hand stitching of the binding. There might be some small changes if I make another ABC quilt...
We met the little people, along with their mother, for a visit to the Duke Energy Children's Museum.
The children climbed on the giant turtle and clam shells before going to the 'climbing area'. "Guess which part I like the best," they said...
We know which part of the Children's Museum that K.K. likes the best!
After following his big sister in the climbing area, Noah was off exploring on his own!
Then, off to the 'water area'. Always lots of wet fun there!
Emma and her little sister, Anna, met K.K. and Noah at the Children's Museum for the day. Here's Emma.
K.K. took a bit of a side trip to the area with the balls. The whole idea was to use levers to get the balls up to the 'shovel'. The full 'shovel' opened and the balls came falling down. Some children were lucky enough to have a bag in which to catch the balls!
Everyone worked up an appetite to eat hot dogs and drink chocolate milk.
The Cincinnati Museum Center is preparing nine months of special events, beginning March 29, to celebrate Union Terminal's 75th birthday. The terminal was dedicated March 31, 1933. At its peak during WWII, the building handled 108 in-bound trains and served up to 34,000 passengers a day, most of them soldiers. Train service ended in 1972. In 1977, the building was declared a National Historic Landmark. The Museum Center opened in November, 1990 and Amtrak restored train service in July, 1991.
The deer were out Saturday, gamboling in the warm sun. We saw five deer altogether: at least two were bucks.
The high temperature was in the low teens. Thirty years ago, at this time of the year, the temperatures were in the negatives (minus 25) for so long that the Ohio River froze!
Happy New Year, One and All!
We awoke this morning to Minnesotian-like temperatures in the single digits. Brrr... Snow continued to fall: the salt truck had made a pass along our road as John headed to work. At least there were no cars sliding off our stretch of the road. We had been promised high temperatures in the low 20's this afternoon. The high was only 14 degrees... we have been promised single digit temperatures again for tonight!
Big snow flakes fell most of the morning.
We had one telephone call New Year's Day asking if we had seen the Lakota West Marching Firebirds in the Tournament of Roses Parade. The Firebirds had the privilege of being among just six high school bands selected nationwide for the honor of appearing in the 119th Rose Parade. Thank you, Charlie, for your phone call!
