54th Annual Classic and Antique Car Show

Many years ago, when our children were young, we watched the parade of classic and antique cars and trucks, sitting in the shade on lawn chairs in the back of our truck. Not so long ago, before traffic made bicycling next to impossible, we rode our bikes to the show. Today, we stopped to view the cars on our way home from P2O in Oxford.
Model T's
Admirers surrounding Pete's Model T. Actually, the man with the clipboard is a judge.
Notice the hand made quilt over the seat of the car on the left.

We looked for a 'Diamond T'.

This is not a 'Diamond T'.

We stopped for lunch at Richard's only because Richard's makes an outstanding steak sandwich, the parade route goes past Richard's and because Richard's has huge front windows with booths providing an air-conditioned view of the parade.

P2O

The P2O, 'Porches to Oxford' had more than 400 Porches parked along the main and side streets of downtown Oxford.

Each Porche, better than the last.

A Porche diesel tractor.

The owner has the best of both worlds... an entry in Porche events as well as an entry in tractor shows!

The vanity plates were unique. There was 'SUES 986', 'O WOW', 'AHHHH'. You get the idea!

A new park, where the infamous Oxford water tower once stood.

MidFirst Ohio Challenge

MidFirst Ohio Challenge is a three day competition hot air balloon festival.
There will be jumps by a professional skydiving team, nighttime balloon glows, festival foods, helicopter and tethered balloon rides.
And, yes, Fred, there will be a classic car show on Sunday to which you could bring your Diamond T.
Five years ago we took K.K. to the balloon festival. She had just mastered the fine art of walking/running. She chased a small white balloon as it was blown by the wind along the ground.
When the hot-air balloons took off, she wanted to chase those too!

This year, for the first time, hot air balloon rides are being offered for a mere $200!

Great Ohio Bicycle Adventure Update...

Ed's pictures of GOBA.
Saturday evening, riders lined up, hopefully, to set the Guinness World Record for the most bicycle riders in a parade.
Riders kept coming into downtown Wellington; but, alas, GOBA didn't make the Guinness World Record!

Tuesday was a rest day in Mount Vernon. Ed, John and I rode the Kokosing Gap Trail. Some sights along the trail.

Friday evening festivities at Orrville; the song contest.

Thank you for the great pictures, Ed.

Have-a-Heart Adventures

I was telling friends about our raccoon adventures and then putting the have-a-heart in the garden. One of them said, "Be careful. We caught a skunk in our have-a-heart." Well...
This was a pretty docile skunk. John tried a number on times to get him out of the trap and he just wouldn't go! He finally just walked out. Goofy skunk.
The good news is that no one got sprayed!

And let the 'local' antique machinery shows begin...

A perfect fit!

A happy Fourth of July to all!

Raccoons

When we returned from GOBA, we found three raccoons in the chimney. We tried to chase them out of the chimney, John on the inside, me watching on the outside. One of the raccoons put a left foot on the top of the chimney, followed by his right foot, then pulled his head up above the chimney.
And me without my camera!
The following morning, John checked the chimney and the raccoons were gone. He fixed a screen to put over the top of the chimney, so the raccoons could find a new home.
While I was gone to Uncle Walter's, one of the raccoons was caught in the have-a-heart and let go in a 'wet-lands' area about a mile north of us.
Well, today, another raccoon wandered into the have-a-heart.
He looked pretty comfortable; but I moved him a short distance into the shade, where he could take advantage of the strong west-south/westerly wind.
You'll never guess what we put in the have-a-heart as a lure...
Into the truck, then out of the truck to another park way north of the freeway.

Oh, and by the way, while we were this far north, we stopped to see the trailers at Ben Hur Trailers...

This is a nice looking trailer, don'tcha' think?
