Visitors

We had visitors this morning.
I suspect they were headed to our neighbors' pond.

Home is the most important place in the world...

After a hearty breakfast to fortify ourselves for the event, we made the trip to the new IKEA store.
As you can see, we were there early enough that we got a fairly 'up-close' parking space.
We wandered through the living rooms, the wall units and media storage, the work area, the kitchens and dining, the bedrooms and the children's IKEA.
We stopped for lunch at the restaurant - part of the experience, we've been told. The Swedish meatballs with mashed potatoes were outstanding! I was very tempted to purchase a bag of the frozen meatballs along with the sauce, but was afraid I wouldn't be able to replicate the experience...
After lunch, we went to the lower level to continue the journey through cooking and eating, textiles and rugs, bath shop, home organization, lighting, home decoration, and through the Swedish food market/bistro.
Some of us were on visual over-load!

The sun was out when we left; many more cars were in the parking lot!

An adventure, to be sure!

When I go again, I will purchase items from the Lillabo wooden train series for the children.

A Spring Walk Around the Yard

We started out the day by recycling 68 pounds of aluminum cans.
Happy Earth Day to you!

The purple lilacs have such a nice aroma. I brought a bouquet inside!

The clove bush has an entirely different, but pleasant, aroma!

The buckeye tree that dies each August and returns in the Spring!

Red (on top) and yellow tomatoes for the deer. The deer watched the garden being plowed and disced in great anticipation of the treats to come.
We have a surprise for you this year!

And what is this pretty purple blossom on the spirea?

No training wheels, Grandpa!

Bicycling Adventures

We took a little trip to Live Oak, Florida, for the 28th annual Florida Safari. The event was sponsored by the Florida Freewheelers.
Saturday and Sunday were pleasant for bicycling.

There were a number of us camped under the arena at the Suwannee County Fairgrounds in anticipation of the early Sunday morning rain.
The rain stopped by 7:00 a.m. The man sitting beside me at breakfast said, "Rain before seven; clear by eleven."
I'd never heard that before!
We had a nice 35 mile ride followed by lunch at the Dixie Grill in downtown, downtown Live Oak.

Monday, we drove to Madison to continue our bicycling adventures at the Cherry Lake 4-H Camp.

We set up our tent and bicycled to Madison for lunch. "Food for Thought" was no longer in business, so we ate at a near-by buffet before returning to camp.

Tuesday morning temperatures were in the low 30's. After breakfast, we watched the steam rise from the lake.
Later in the morning, we took a short ride to the grocery store in near-by Pinetta. We returned to camp only to hear talk of returning home.
"If we wanted temperatures in the 30's, we would have stayed in Ohio!"
We headed home Wednesday morning after yet another chilly night.

Wednesday afternoon, we went to the American Museum of Science and Energy at Oak Ridge.

Thursday, we took a little side trip to visit with the grandchildren and their mother.
K.K. had a BIG surprise for her grandfather!
Look, Grandpa! No training wheels!
Look at the fun the children are having with their bikes!
Yikes! No helmets!

A New Resident

An unwelcome guest is setting up her residence (building her nest)
on the left side of the door track.

Someone spent a good part of his morning discouraging her efforts.

Wonder who that could have been?

Go Memphis!
