We get packages...

Packages from Christine and Bob came in the mail. The tallest box on the left said, "Perishable: Live Plants: Open at Once". What kind of plant will it be?

It is called a Sago Palm.
Even though it appears to be a palm, it is not a true palm, but belongs to an ancient group of plants called cycads (si' kad). Cycads are a very primitive group of seed-bearing plants more closely related to conifers than to palms.

And a tree ornament celebrating 75 years of the Radio City Christmas Spectacular.
Thank you for the gifts, Christine and Bob. The third package remains under the tree to be opened later...

Happy Winter Solstice to you! The hours of daylight will now begin to get longer.
