Chrisholm Historic Farmstead

Chrisholm Historic Farmstead
Posted by: mlouise.
In 1819, six Amish families formed a settlement in Butler County under the leadership of Christian Augspurger. It was the third Amish settlement in Ohio and the westernmost for immigrants from the Alsace area of Europe.
The first home built by Christian burned in 1873. His son, Samuel, constructed the current brick farm home on the original Chrisholm foundation the next year.
Quite a bit of restoration has taken place over the last five years, both inside and out.
The Butler County Antique Machinery Club has been instrumental in parts of the restoration. They had quite a nice display of antique machinery this year.
