Zihuatanejo/Ixtapa Day 2
Tuesday, we started the day by going to the Museo De Sitio Xihuacan -
affectionately known as 'the ruins.'
We had been here before, but we wanted to see changes that had been made.
Always, a work in process...
There were some new steps.
Fred and I walked over to look at them.
There were signs: Do not walk.
We angered the gods.
Yikes!
The ball court.
The player who successfully hits the ball through the hoop,
has the honor of being sacrificed to the gods.
Two authentically dressed dancers preformed an impressive dance.
Afterwards, we formed a circle and were 'cleansed' of our evil deeds.
We drove to the small town of Petatlan.
Along the beach, vendors were encouraging passers-by to enter their establishments.
The establishments were covered with netting to block the sun.
Hammocks lined the rows between the tables.
We ordered appetizers.
John and I ordered cheese enchiladas.
Fred and Liz ordered a fish dish...
Liz hanging out on one of the hammocks.
How fun is that, Liz?
