Field Trip
Mr. Redlegs on the Scripps Center.
The Queen City will be host to July's 86th
MLB All-Star Game.
The decoration references Cincinnati's
role as the birthplace of
professional baseball.
Several members of the Gamma Xi chapter drove to the
National Underground Railroad Freedom Center.
Our guide started our tour in the slave pen, a two story structure found
on a farm in Kentucky and rebuilt within the Freedom Center.
Slaves were temporarily housed in the slave pen
on their way to be sold.

We could see the carousel (in the building) and the children playing
in the water at Smale Park.
So. After a delightful lunch at StockYard,
we walked over to see the carousel.
Up close.
Joyce, Debbie, Mary Angela
and Gretchen enjoyed a ride on the carousel.

On the south side of the Freedom Center
was a section of the Berlin Wall.
One of the several bricks surrounding the 'wall.'

There was a section of the Freedom Center that showed a
timeline for the emancipation of women. One of the signs said:
"1855 - University of Iowa becomes the first co-educational public or state university"
One of our members is from Iowa.
She didn't know that....
