We took a little trip to Louisville with a trunk full of presents. It was to be the hottest day for September 3, breaking a 58 year old record - set in 1953. The temperature at 4:31 was 99 degrees. We knew that K.K. would be expecting her new 'Chuck Taylors', so we walked into the house empty handed, wondering how long it would take for her to say something. We chatted and watched K.K. look around. Then, she asked. And on cue, we started: "I told you we forgot something!" "You left them on the kitchen table!" "Why didn't you remind me!" And on and on. K.K. looked from one to the other of us, not knowing what to say. Finally I said, "K.K., put on some shoes and help me bring the presents inside."
K.K. and her new 'Chuck Taylors.' Unique in that each shoe has a double row of grommets - inside and outside. The inner grommets are laced, the outer grommets are loose. The inner grommets are on plaid fabric, the outer grommets are on plain black fabric. Next time the ad for Progressive Insurance comes on TV, notice the shoes that the gal advertising has on...
