The a/c cycled through the night... not a good sign! The outside air was warmer than the inside air when I hung the flag... not a good sign! And we are told that today is to be 'cooler' than yesterday! This year's hottest day so far was Thursday, July 21, with a temperature of 97 degrees at 3:00 pm (heat index of 108). Thursday marked the fifth straight day in the 90s; it was the 10th 90-plus day this month... compared to seven in all of 2010.
I know, more than two-thirds of the nation was affected by the excessive heat on Thursday.
Darkness offers little relief The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration reported at a briefing Thursday that while the current heat wave has recorded 12 all-time daily highs so far this month, it also has registered 98 all-time overnight highs. When it comes to a record high for a particular date, 1,279 locations have tied or broken daytime records this month while 3,128 night time highs have been tied or broken.
Good Grief!
