Florida Bicycle Safari Adventures

Had a nice drive south last Thursday/Friday to Live Oak for the annual Florida Bicycle Safari. We saw destruction from Georgia's Thursday morning tornado along I-75 as we entered the state, then again south of Atlanta near High Falls. Not pretty.

We put our tent in its usual spot under the colosseum.
Florida, too, has had some rain - the dry creekbed is not normally part of our front yard.

We had sunny weather both Saturday and Sunday for our forty mile rides. Enjoyed plenty of good food and friends. The sky was blue, a gentle wind blew to keep us cool and flowers were in bloom everywhere!

Monday, we headed home by way of the Atlantic Coast. We toured Jekyll and St. Simon Islands.
This is the bridge over the intra-coastal waterway between the two islands.

We arrived in Gatlinburg early Tuesday morning, registered at a Best Western, rode the trolley and walked through town. We stopped at Ripley's Believe It or Not! Museum.
How many discarded materials can you identify?

A coat-hanger horse and a matchstick train.
Who'd'a guessed?

The picture of the shuttle is made with jelly beans; the picture of the geisha, with postage stamps!

This one is for you, Minnesota Fred!

And, I expect a correct answer!

And, of course...

Ummmmm, coffee, at the Atrium by the Falls.

Comments:
I can't believe you haven't posted the answer to the number of triangles! I have a guess, but I'm sure I'm way off! I should probably have Cooper look at it - he would get the answer in a couple of seconds probably!

Susan

I haven't a guess yet from Minnesota Fred... don't want to ruin the fun for him!;-)

I confess, Susan. There are 107 triangles, but I'm only able to find 96....How about you and Cooper?

We are stuck at 96 too! And we have printed it off and marked it up. We are definitely going to have to keep looking!

Thanks for the answer! I've been checking back at least once a day to see if Uncle Fred had guessed!

Janice was trying to figure it out too and I think she was stuck at 96 too!

Susan

Use the middle lines for the base of yet other triangles... 107 may not be correct - how could the answer be an odd number? I'm up to 108.

Went to the YWCA event Thursday, thinking it was a fund raiser and to hear Jeannette Walls, the keynote speaker. 2000 attendees! Ms. Everhart was an award recipient! Congrats to her!

I think about 100 of those 2000 attendees were Cintas partners! Everyone is very proud of Robin for receiving the award.

I was wondering how the answer could be an odd number as well. Cooper's still working on it, so I'll let you know what he comes up with. I'm still stuck on 96, but I'll try to look at the middle lines like you suggest.

Susan

An odd number qualifies it for inclusion in the Ripley Believe It or Not! Museum? Because it would make sense that there would be an even number of triangles?

First try and that goofy boy of mine found all 107! I was cracking up! And I have to say, the last 3 were totally cheating on the part of Ripley's if Cooper got them right.

Susan

Congrats to Cooper! I wish I had the 'real' answer, as I check, but I don't. So it was 107? I'll look at it again.

If Cooper is right, the last three aren't actually in the puzzle - they are in the words!

Wouldn't you know?!? That Cooper! Good for him! I bet he is right! :-)

Hope you were safe in the storm last night.
