Weather Terrorists

The weather terrorists were in all their glory yesterday, predicting the impending snow storm. This is the third snow storm in two weeks.
Not the snow that Aunt 'V' and Minnesota Fred have had, but enough snow to close 360 agencies/businesses and schools in the area! Aunt 'V' reports over 30 inches of snow! Yikes! But, things could be worse, she says.
Schools were closed Monday for the three to six inches of snow that fell Sunday and Monday. Two 'snow days' in a week!

I shoveled the back walk this morning before I walked out to get the newspaper. An hour and a half later, the walk is covered with snow, and there is another hour of snow predicted.

Snowy day update: we have had 11.9 inches of snow so far; average for this time of the year is 1.6 inches. With five more days until winter!

The 'Little People' Monday on their 'snow day.'
Mom said, "The kids came up with this on their own."

Other 'snowy day' projects. There is a Scholastic Book Warehouse in our area that hosts two 'sales' each year. For the last five years, I have organized retired/active teacher friends to volunteer at the warehouse to earn 'vouchers' that will be used to 'purchase' books for the children of the local Head Start.
Judy K. helping a customer find the location of a book; Becky welcoming a customer to the sale; Judy W. and Leslie arranging a customer's books in the 'build-a-box' area (all the books you can put in a box for $24.95).

The Head Start teachers will shop tomorrow. Volunteers have 'earned' vouchers that will buy $1400 worth of books.
Thank you to all the volunteers!

Comments:
Boy, the grandkids really have grown! That was cute that they did that on the couch. Very creative!

That was really great to get all those books for the Head Start program. I am sure that the kids will appreciate it very much.

Nice to have extra days off for the snow, but tough to shovel.

Hope you have a great holiday!
Only a week away!

Jane
