Chrisholm Historic Farmstead Visitors

Thursday, two groups of home schooled children visited Chrisholm Historic Farmstead.

The children with their parents sat on the front porch of the home to listen to 'Christian Augsburger' tell about coming to live in America.
Christian, his wife and seven children came from the Alsace region of Europe to live in Butler County in 1719. Their eighth child, John, was born on a flat boat as the family traveled down the Ohio River.

The project director provided a variety of 'fences' as well as an assortment of animals to put inside the fences for the children. I, too, brought zoo and farm animals as well as tractors for the children.
Snack time consisted of building a fence with 'waffle' pretzels and frosting, then putting 'animals' inside the fences. And a story about fences. How much fun is that?
The children took turns ringing the dinner bell. The mothers prepared the most delicious lunch for the children and the volunteers! Yumm, yumm!
Thank you! Thank you!
