The Sun! The Sun!

We had a beautifully sunny day today! The first for what seems like a long time.
There is still quite a bit of snow on the ground; along the drive where it was plowed and in areas where there is shade throughout the day. And a bit of snow remains on the roof.

The temperature got up to 43 degrees this afternoon. I drove my filthy car from the garage to clean it.

According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, this winter (through the end of February) has been the fifth-snowiest on record.

The snowiest winter on record (through the end of February) was 1977-1978 when 53.9 inches of snow fell; 1976-1977 when 47.3 inches of snow fell; 1950-1951 when 46.3 inches of snow fell; 1995-1996 when 44.6 inches of snow fell and 2009-2010 when 38.4 inches of snow fell. The weather service warns us that we are not out of the woods yet, but temperatures are expected to be in the lower 50's this weekend! Woo-Hoo!
