The Butler County Antique Machinery Show

The Butler County Antique Machinery Club holds its summer festivities at the Chrisholm Historic Farmstead . The original home built in 1830 by Christian Augspurger, leader of the Amish-Mennonite settlement, was destroyed by fire in 1873. The present brick farmhouse was built on the original Chrisholm foundation in 1874 by Samuel Augspurger, Christian's son.
The Friends of Chrisholm have been working over the years to restore the house.
The Cub, cleaned up and on display... the children were amazed at how tall some of the wheels were!
The children were enthralled with the Bantams. Do I even need to say that?
We needed a rest, so we sat in the shade of the reconstructed Rosemont barn. To the left and in front of the Rosemont barn, two John Deere tractors are getting ready to operate the saw mill.
Here come Sally and Slim pulling the wagon! The rides around the farm were enjoyed by everyone!

A new feature this year was the making of 'rag' dolls. One of the members of the Friends of Chrisholm assembled many colorful 'rag' doll kits. Children chose a 'kit', and with help, assembled either a boy or a girl 'rag' doll.
This activity took place in the Pennsylvania style bank barn that sits west of the house.

It's always fun to watch the bees and to find the queen bee.

Eating watermelon after dinner; the 'bug lady' with a grasshopper.
An adventure to be sure!
