Berlin Adventure; Day One

We were greeted at the Berlin Airport Wednesday morning by the two translators who would accompany us throughout our adventure. We had a 'light' lunch of soup and salad before walking down Friedrichstrasse to Check Point Charlie.


Later in the afternoon, Ambassador Horst Pakowski talked with us about his city, then took us for a walk down Unter den Linden to the Brandenburg Gate.

The Brandenburg Gate sits just inside what was East Berlin. Even though the Berlin Wall came down in 1989, bricks show where it once stood.


The left picture is the Brandenburg Gate from the other side. . Although you can't tell from these pictures, bicycles and bicycle paths were everywhere!
