Florida Freewheelers Bicycle Safari

Bicycle riding is second only to the food prepared by the Dixie Grill for participants of the annual Florida Freewheelers Bicycle Safari. The rides on Saturday and Sunday are in the Live Oak area.

We tented under the canopy of the rodeo stadium at the Suwannee County Fairgrounds. We had temperatures in the mid-seventies for both days of riding. Monday, we moved our camp to Cherry Lake Campgrounds.

Cherry Lake Campgrounds is a beautiful 4-H campground.

Tents as far as the eye can see... The dining hall is in the background of the picture on the right.

We have pitched our tent and taken a short ride (24 miles round trip) to the near-by town of Madison for a delicious lunch at Food for Thought.

This week Madison is celebrating the four freedoms as stated by President Franklin D. Roosevelt on January 6, 1941.

This memorial symbolizes the four freedoms: freedom of speech and expression, freedom of worship, freedom from want and freedom from fear.

Wednesday evening celebrations include ribs, ice-cream sundaes and the band Just in Case. Yes, and beer.

In the left picture, the ten year old son of one of the band members did a 'bang-up' job on the drums.

The food line: will there be anything left for me?

Friends enjoying the festivities.
