Swimming
The grandchildren, their mother and I took a trip to visit with Uncle Walter and Aunt B.
to swim in their pool - and to go fishing and kayaking.

Warming up after swimming.
And back into the pool again!
Ellie and I had great fun with the yellow raft.
Ellie repeatedly knocked me off into the water. And we laughed.
"This time, I'll stay on," I said.
"N-o-o," said Miss El.

CHEEZ-IT fun in the shade.
The puppies loved the CHEEZ-ITS that fell on the ground!

Friday morning, Uncle Walter took us fishing and kayaking.
Miss El getting ready to propel her own kayak.
Miss El and her mom.
Uncle Walter said, "Look at that Miss El!"
K.K. and Noah were fishing.
And, who caught the first fish?
I like that hat you are wearing, K.K.
Then Noah and K.K. went kayaking.
"The wind almost blew my hat in the water!" said K.K.
When it was my turn to kayak, the wind DID blow my hat in the water.
Good thing I had watched Uncle Walter turn his boat around.
He brought me a styrofoam pad to sit on.
"Why didn't you wait for me?" he said.

Sitting in the sun, snacking.
We moved over to the shade.
Grandpa and Dad found us.
Uncle Walter took his kayak out to fish.
The rest of us stopped for ice cream down town.
Mint Chocolate Chip was the flavor of the day... isn't it always?
The flavor of the day?

Ohio Challenge Hot Air Balloon Festival
The Ohio Challenge Balloon Festival is held in Middletown.
There are skydiver performances, a carnival, music and entertainment.
We parked across from Smith Field along with a throng of other observers.
We were there to watch the hot air balloons.
The sky was littered with skydivers.
The trucks with the gondolas, fans and balloons drove down the bike path
behind us. Not a good sign.
The trucks parked along the Great Miami River to inflate the balloons.
Folks watching along the Great Miami River.

Twelve years ago, we took Kaitlyn to the Balloon Fest.
Pulse-Journal was advertising by giving away small white balloons.
We got one for Kaitlyn.
There was enough of a breeze that she could kick that
small balloon and chase it.
I would follow her for several kicks, pick up her and the
balloon and say, "We have to go see Grandpa."
We did this over and over and over again.
Finally, the hot air balloons began to rise in the air.
Kaitlyn was so excited! She wanted to chase those balloons, too!
What a fun time!
