Christmas Pictures

What could it be?

Sleeping bags for camping adventures with the Boy/Girl Scouts.

Books, of course.
Diary of the Wimpy Kid - The Third Wheel.
Yes!

A classic music center for all your entertainment needs!

Mom's Family Calendar to keep track of all activities.

face it
crazy people are hot

"Grandma! You're not helping me!"

We finished the evening with several hands of Uno at the kitchen table.
Even Miss El played two hands before fetching the toys.
Noah and his mother were the winners.
Next time!

Merry Christmas!

Snow!

Yikes! The blizzard has arrived!

Huge snow flakes fall interspersed with a sleety hail.
The back walk has been shoveled twice.
Probably due for a third shoveling!

South bound and north bound.
Very few vehicles out and about this morning.
Those vehicles that are out are traveling, mostly, at a slower speed.
The prediction is for four to six inches of the white stuff!
A good day to be at home.

Close to six inches of snow fell throughout the day.
At least four vehicles slid off the road south of us.
One of the south bound vehicles crashed into our mailbox trying to avoid
the car in front of it as it slipped and turned 360 degrees.
The airbags in the car deployed; the mailbox spun into the road.

AAA came to tow the car to its home.

Loaded and ready to go.

The mailbox is ready to be put back on its post.

What a day!
What's the weather like in your neck of the woods?

Frohliche Weihnachten

I
am thinking
of you today
because it is Christmas
and I wish
you happiness and
tomorrow because it
will be the day after
Christmas,
I shall still wish
you happiness and so
on clear through the
year.

                                              Henry vanDyke

Christmas Eve

'Twas the night before Christmas
And all through the house,
Not a creature was stirring,
Not even a mouse.

The stockings were hung
By the chimney with care.
In hopes that St. Nicholas
Soon would be there.

When out on the lawn
There arose such a clatter,
I sprang from my bed
To see what was the matter.

Four deer were enjoying a Christmas Eve repast
just outside the sun room.
One was to the left of these two;
the other to the right.

The Visit

Thursday, the grandchildren came for a visit.
"When do we get to frost cookies, Grandma?" they asked.

Intermittent rain fell all morning.
After lunch, K.K. and I made frosting.
There were bell, star and stocking shaped cookies.

Nice job frosting those cookies, Ladies!
Noah declined invitations to join in the frosting.

The rain stopped long enough for us to take a long walk out back.
Fortunately, the children had boots to wear.
The ground was quite muddy!
________________
In December, we have already had 4.53 inches of rain.
The normal for this time of December is 2.27 inches.
We remain four inches below the normal for 2012.

As we headed back from our walk, rain began sprinkling;
then more rain fell as we raced up the hill!
We got inside without getting too wet.

Friday, Susan brought belated birthday presents
and early Christmas presents for the children.

K.K. was in for a surprise! An empty box!
Oooops!

Noah and El enjoyed playing with their 'Squinkies.'
The temperature remained in the mid twenties all day
with winds blowing up to 35 miles an hour.
A good day to be indoors.

Saturday, the sun actually came out!
I took a late afternoon walk out back.
A trace of snow remained in the woods.

Christmas roses from Christine and Bob.

Frohliche Weihnachten!

YIKES!

YIKES!

There is a giant white car in the garage!

We have had RAIN all day!
Tomorrow, if the rain stops, there will be better pictures.

I have to practice driving it in and out of the garage, after all.
Oh, and without doing any damage...
YIKES!

Lebanon Carriage Parade

We went to the annual carriage parade in Lebanon.
The sky was overcast, the temperatures in the mid to upper 50's.

A beautiful day to watch a Christmas parade.
Sunday's Enquirer reported that over 200,000 people were in attendance.

The route was changed this year.
The carriages went on the side streets before coming back down the main street.

The horses ranged in size from the miniatures

to the Clydesdales

and the Percherons.

Mr. and Mrs. Clause talked with the children on the opposite side of the street.
Santa's Elves were out and about, too.

An interesting pair pulling the Gorman Heritage Farm wagon.

And the Grinch came for a visit.
Who is that riding with him?

Santa's elves had their own wagon.

The carriage with the present of a miniature pony.

The forerunner of the limousine.

Ronald McDonald joined the parade!

An early Kroger wagon.

The parade concluded with a four horse wide hitch pulling the fire engine.
There were over 100 entries.

We watched for Slim and Sally, but suspect
that they were in the parade in nearby Trenton.
