Wettest Year Yet...

It's official!

We have had the most rain in any year since records started being kept in 1871!
Sometime after 9 pm Wednesday, October 26, a light drizzle pushed us over the .22 of an inch of rain needed to break the record.
The old record set in 1990 was 57.58 inches of rain.
The normal is 42.52 inches of rain.
As of today, the total is 58.51 inches with another six to seven inches of precipitation expected in November and December. Of course, we had next to no rain in July and August.

My volunteer grapefruit tree has been repotted and will soon be brought inside for the winter. It looks healthier this year than it did last year.

The leaves continue to be raked and put on the garden; the irises are almost all cut back and ready for the winter.

The grass is still growing and you know what that means! :-)

Noah's Seventh Birthday

Before Noah's birthday party, we had the opportunity to go to the Frazier History Museum with Noah's Cub Scout troop.
The boys had fun pulling the string on the arrow to see how strong they were.
I liked the displays of armor and the 'action' figures. Did you know that leather and even layers of paper were used at times to protect soldiers in battle?
Across the street from the Frazier History Museum was the Louisville Slugger Museum.
A trip for another day.

Noah's party included friends, of course, pepperoni and cheese pizza and bobbing for apples...even little Miss El got an apple! :-)

Jim read the party-goers a 'ghost story' in a dark, dark room! The party-goers were surprised to hear their names as the main characters in the story.
See the box behind where Jim is standing? Only the bravest of the children got to stick his/her hand through a hole to feel the 'ghastly' items in the story. No looking!

After the ghost story, the party-goers went outside to 'shoot' each other with silly string and use hair paint.

Happy Birthday, Noah!
What a great birthday/Halloween party!

This is a trial with Windows 7

Here are a few of the lovely ladies of Gamma Xi at the September meeting! IMG_1278

Here are the lovely Catherine and Becky after their presentation on the schools in Africa. Now, to figure out how to move the pictures….

Okay, so I can adjust the paragraphs and, accidentally, I adjusted the first picture…. hmmm….

Do I dare try side by side pictures… no place to edit the HTML! What will I do?!?

Here are the lovely Bev and Joyce displaying our new handbook. Instead of replacing the whole handbook each year, just the necessary pages will be replaced…

How exciting!

Birthday Girl

Little Miss El celebrated her third birthday last week.

Here she is in her 'birthday crown.'

We watched K.K.'s team play two games of volleyball.
The girls 'warmed up' by serving and returning serves.
The 'Birthday Girl' slept through her big sister's games.

The 'Birthday Girl' sitting between her older siblings.

Four generations.

Three generations.

And let the birthday party begin!

Happy Third Birthday to You!
