Chrisholm Historic Farmstead

We took a trip to Chrisholm Historic Farmstead to visit the Between Fences exhibit.

The new 'composting' restroom. The worm fence (also known as the Virginia fence, zigzag fence or national fence, because it was so prevalent) was installed yesterday.

Blossoms on the Gardenia

There are two new blossoms on my Mother's Day gardenia.

Wish there were some way you could enjoy their fragrance.

On another note, I get to be a docent for the Smithsonian's Exhibit "Between Fences" which will be at the Chrisholm Historic Farmstead until June 10.

Last Thursday was the docent training and opening ceremonies.
My first docenting experience will be with a group of fourth graders on Wednesday. I will lead them through several areas: the cemetery, the Pennsylvania style bank barn, the garden, a chat with Otelia Augsburger and then through the 'Between Fences' exhibition.
Oh, and the composting restrooms!

Watch for the coming of the grasshopper!

Mother's Day Adventures

We met The Little People and their parents at The Two Rivers Restaurant for a Mother's Day breakfast buffet. Scrambled eggs, biscuits and gravey, crispy bacon and sausage patties, mixed fruit and fruit juices, coffee and rolls; what could be better? The people we are with!
Okay. So now we have the giggles!

After a nice visit, we headed home by way of the Pioneer Power Club tractor show.

We finished off the day with some shopping at a local mall. All in all, a nice Mother's Day!
Hope your Mother's Day was equally as nice!

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day!

A lovely gardenia from Christine and Bob.

Wednesday, we planted radishes and lettuce; beans and assorted squash; peppers and tomatos. Friday, we planted beets, cucumbers, swiss chard and some more peppers and tomatos. Friday night we had about 1/2 inch of rain.
Good timing for the plants and seeds.
The temperatures today are in the low 50's (thirty degrees cooler than yesterday) and the wind is cold...there is a possiblity of frost tonight!
Do you have snow, Minnesota Fred?
The irises are just gorgeous this year!

Happy Mother's Day!
