Christmas 2009

Presents 'neath the tree....cookies and cards.

Noah and K.K. took turns distributing the presents this year.

Each person opens one present, before receiving the next present.

Gloves and hats for the ladies and 'Bumblebee' gloves and hat for Noah!

Presents for all!

Hope your Christmas was delightful!

I am thinking of you...

I
am thinking
of you today
because it is Christmas
and I wish
you happiness and
tomorrow because it
will be the day after
Christmas,
I shall still wish
you happiness and so
on clear through the
year.

Merry Christmas and a Happy, Healthy New Year!

I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas.....

Here it is, not even 'officially' winter, and we awoke to snow!
Not the snow that the East coast is getting, but snow, none the less!
The temperature is now around 35 degrees, a mix of rain and snow is gently falling. The trees and bushes have lost their white coats.
I can dream!

It's Beginning to Look Like Christmas...

...and along with Christmas is the annual Scholastic Book Warehouse sale.

One of my 'self-assigned' activities is to organize the retired teachers and members of my sorority to 'volunteer' at the warehouse to earn vouchers. These vouchers are given to our counties' Head Start program to purchase books for the children.
Two of the shoppers from Head Start.
Look at all the books! Look at the smiles on their faces!

Can we fit in one more box?

Twenty volunteers worked 182 hours to earn $1820 in vouchers to purchase books for half price for the children in the Head Start program.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

The 21st Annual Lebanon Carriage Parade

The weather was chilly - 28 degrees - but the sun was shining.

We elbowed our way through the crowds surrounding the food booths.

The 'elves' would be walking along the parade route asking for donations.

And, let the parade begin!

The first carriage was pulled by a Haflinger; next, a wagon pulled by a couple of Clydesdale 'plow' horses.
This wagon is pulled by a couple of Clydesdale 'show' horses followed by the 'horse with eight legs.'
Here are two nice standard breds and a nice Percheron.
Here are a couple of Percherons from just down the road. Every now and then, the parade would come to a halt. This Percheron is waiting for the parade to begin again.
A wagon being pulled by a nice pair of grays.
Click on the first picture to see the long ears on this pair! Where we stood, we could see the parade coming and going! What a treat!
Next came the miniature teams pulling The Grinch and Santa's elves.
The middle pair of these Clydesdales was w-a-y too frisky...they were the lead team on the return trip!
The well-trained black Percherons were the stars of the show!
The parade ended with a four-wide hitch pulling the fire truck.

There were close to 150 different entries in the parade; each entry different than the last.
